Caesar (I believe) notes that the Celts longswords would bend almost 90 
degrees from time to time but that the Celtish warriors very easily bent 
them straight again. Also I remember reading an account of a few 
archaeologist trying an more than 2000-years old Celtish sword that bent 
when struck into a log but just snapped back when shaken.
