CHAPTER 8: SEEKING SORROW

With the Mystic Tome and a plan of attack, the mouse adventurers discussed further plans for tackling Vanestra. They could defeat her with flame, according to legend, but the ever-wise Maginos surmised that she would have extra magic protection from flames. Her protection spells would need to be stripped before they could defeat her. Maginos suggested they search for the Sorrow Blade, King Andon's blade, rumoured to be cursed. The very-quiet-till-now Prince Collin was unfazed by the supposed curse and vowed to find the blade.
Where could the blade be though? Hmmmm.......oh wait, Tilda had it in her back pocket. The other mice must have been very imperceptive not to notice her use it. So, task one was complete. Now it is time to find The King, they thought.
Maginos was in no mood to dilly-dally, and also he could no longer suppress his mega urge to hoard cheese. Once Upon A Time he had no cheese and ever since, he would hoard every scrap he could find. Now, though, he could no longer suppress the urge and burst forth into every room, frying all his enemies with lightning bolts and ransacked every nook and crevice for any cheese he could find. He would eat cheese with his right hand and shoot lightning bolts from the staff in his left hand, amassing even more cheese from the fallen corpses of rats and roaches. Twas a sight to behold.
After the slaughter ended, the mice found their old friend Miz Maggie who took the mice straight to the King's room on her dinner tray. What a helpful old lady. The mice then snuck along the floor and up to the King's bed. They could wake him from his eternal slumber if only they had a Whiskerfroth Elixir. What hey? Tilda had one in her back pocket! Another timely surprise! They gave the king the elixir and he awoke, confused but glad to see his son (once he realized they'd been turned into mice).
Now they needed to assist him in escaping his quarters - by chance the mice still had Vanestra's brush and using a strand of her hair, Maginos was able to transform the King into a mouse like them, despite Filch's protests, so they could escape together. The party then went through a hole behind the fireplace.
